The Modern Daara...

Education Not Abuse

Senegal, home to the largest mosque in West Africa and with a 95% Muslim population. The modern daara is defined as a functional structure which respects the regulatory provisions related to ergonomic standards, didactic principles under hygienic and health conditions. It’s learning goals focus on memorization of the Koran while promoting Islamic religious values on one hand, and on the other, the acquisition of basic skills in elementary education.

Under Love1 Talibe model, while aboding by overall structuring goals under current sociological environments and circumstances, these youths will follow the modern Daara programs: Learning the Koran and associated disciplines (Khadiss, fikh, etc.) for three years. As part of the innovative learning skills under Love1 Talibe, during these first three years, initiation into French, English and Arabic language are included along with basic computer classes.

Primary cycle: the three years following the Koranic learning. This cycle draws from the program of the Ministry of Education established for modern Daaras in Senegal which remain the standards. In addition to this, a program with computer and technology training will be part of the curricula.

After the primary cycle, children can follow the secondary cycle at the boarding level itself. An administrative process is underway to obtain the required authorizations from the Ministry of National Education.

The overall objective will be to educate these children until the baccalaureate. Those who are willing to pursue higher education will be accompanied by love 1 talibé to obtain a scholarship.

mission to transform lives

The agricultural sector is at the heart of the economy of the least developed countries (LDCs). It represents a large share of gross domestic product (GDP) (from 30 to 60% in about two thirds of them), and employs a significant proportion of the active population (from 40% to 90% in most cases). Senegal is not exception and Love1 Talibe found innovative farming techniques with local institutions part of the National Agricultural Research System to partner in delivering such techniques through our Community Supported Agriculture model.

Integrating children into society

Agriculture produces most of the basic food and is the only source of livelihood and income for more than half the population in Senegal.

Agriculture in directly or indirectly associated with other sectors of the economy also has a stimulating effect on growth and income generation.

Clearly Senegal cannot really progress on the path of economic expansion, poverty reduction, and greater food security if it does not develop the human resources and potential productive capacities of the agricultural sector in order to increase its contribution to economic and social development in general.

The Reason why LOVE1 TALIBE has opted to educate talibé children in agriculture makes it a must for each child to plant his/her own a tree as an introduction to the program. As a testimony to their commitment and learning goals, they are responsible for the care of that tree for the remainder of their participation in the program.

Through experience, this allows them to not only develop their love for nature but also enahnce their understanding of basic skills while giving them a sense of responsibility.

In addition to giving them a potential career; planting their tree, watering it, maintaining it and perceiving the fruits of their effort might give them a sense of responsibility early on. This is the ambition of the Love1Talibe under a Community Supported Agriculture framework model.

we are part of the family. all the way through.

Farming and animal husbandry

A breeding program is included in the training of our residents with the latest techniques in poultry farming by combining theory with practice with support by our local government institutions .advocating similar concerns.

Comprehensive trainings which will extend to other types of breeding according to their evolution in the school curriculum will be devised and offered to them.

Giving children good training means giving them the tools they need to take charge of their future.

Talent Development, Sport

Sport is essential for the development and good growth of the child, but also may be a potential career path for the children.
We have identified three areas in which children will be trained during their stay in LOVE1TALIBE boarding schools.

  1. Football
  2. Basketball
  3. Martial arts

For all the disciplines chosen, it is always important to integrate these programs into the local community, where we have prioritized recruiting experienced and vetted coaches to train the children.
These disciplines can provide a great deal of influence for the children. It will be necessary to ensure that their training meets professional standards early on. A well-defined program is set up to support children in the process of professional integration.
